Summary: (Summarize primary purpose of job function.) Perform a wide variety of duties to assist in the overall operation of the department.

Reports To Director and Assistant Director of Food Service

Titles Supervised Cook, Baker, Cook Helper


Full-time, must be available to work varies shifts and every other weekend.


Essential Responsibilities:

1.Organize, supervise and participate in the preparation of cooking of food. Assure conformance with kosher food preparation requirements.

2.Take inventories and prepare orders for meat, fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, etc. Receive goods and check for proper storage.

3.Inspect meals for quantity, quality and appearance before it is served. Identify problems regarding quality and service issues and make adjustments or substitutions of menu items as required.

4.Determine amount of food needed in accordance with daily menu and by using the production sheets obtained with the computer/resident kardex.

5.Maintain accurate attendance and performance records, prepare performance evaluations, take action in a timely fashion during disciplinary actions according to policy. Coordinate orientation and training and assist in the selection of employees as requested.

6.Maintain current recipe file and insure its proper use with all cooking staff. Oversee development of new recipes to use within the Food Service Department as needed.

7.Insure cooking staff is following established safety regulations, maintaining equipment and using proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures for equipment and work areas.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education High School Diploma/GED, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education; Culinary degree


Experience 3 years experience with the Food Service industry with a minimum of 2 years management
