Job Standards

1. Interact in a professional manner at all times, exhibiting friendly behavior when working with clients, family members, collaborators, the general public, and co-workers

2. Report to work each day at scheduled time and adhere to lunch and/or break schedule

3. Complete all mandatory training each year

4. Self-motivated and well organized

5. Strong and confident communicator

6. Perform other duties as assigned

7. Patience and understanding of behaviors exhibited by this population

8. Ability to maintain calm in the event of emergencies

9. Ability to work independently and as a team player

10. Ability to handle multiple demands and tasks


Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist clients with ADLs including but not limited to bathing, toileting, incontinent care, ambulation, and feeding

2. Assist in serving food to the clients restaurant style

3. Lead therapeutic recreational activities, individually or in groups as directed by the Recreation Coordinator

4. Alert Program Nurse and/or Program Director to any observable changes during transport or throughout the day

5. Provide driving coverage by driving set routes and individual door-to-door pick-ups according to daily schedule assigned by supervisor, when other drivers are out sick or on vacations, or as needed.

6. Assist clients with entering and exiting vehicle during pick-up and drop-off at destinations

7. Properly operate vehicle wheelchair lift to ensure safety of participants. Keep vehicles clean.

8. Ensure gas tank is always at least half full and appropriate tire pressure is maintained

9. Maintain daily driving logs, mileage record and other documentation as required

10. Perform all other related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED; CNA and possession of a CT state license

Experience: One year CNA experience in a nursing home, Adult Day program or acute environment. Experience in group activities, or special talent in music or crafts is helpful.

Licensure: CNA and valid and clean drivers license for the past five years
