Job Title: Clinical Screener

Department: Clinical Support Services

Schedule: Monday to Friday and Weekend Shifts - Flex hours - 6 hour/12 hour shifts 7 days/week.  

Summary/Job Duties:

  1. Screeners are to arrive on time to set-up screening area/equipment: cart is located next to security and screening table(s) are set up along the hallway.  Wipe down table with antibacterial wipe.  Place on table:  box of gloves, hand sanitizer, thermometer(s), alcohol swabs; extra masks, cleaning wipes, pen, screening logs for employees and vendors.
  2. Screener must appear professional and wear clean, scrubs, gloves, a face mask and goggles. Professionalism is expected at all times; courtesy and patience are expected.
  3. As employees or vendor comes in, remind them to use hand sanitizer station at door if they haven't done so. No one can enter without a mask; provide one if necessary.  STAND in front of person to check temperature.
  4. Ask them the specific questions on the screening form: "Do you have a sore throat, cough or shortness of breath? Loss of sense of smell or taste?  Traveled anywhere?  Been in contact with someone who has COVID, and if so, were you wearing PPE?"
  5. Note the name of the person you are screening, and the answers to the screening questions. If anyone has a temperature above 99 degrees or other symptoms, or does not feel well, call the nursing supervisor to report that employee has not passed the screening.  If employee is sent home, note this on the screening form, and direct them to call their MD and the HR department.
  6. Routinely change gloves after periodic cleaning of table and equipment, including thermometers and pen. DO NOT allow anyone to set anything on the table as they come for screening; they are not to touch pen or log; the screener must fill-out the name and the log.
  7. At end of shift, all items are to be cleaned and stored on the cart. Thermometers are to be in their boxes and stored in the striped bag.
  8. If you are the sole screener and need to use restroom or leave your station, inform a receptionist or guard. Wash hands thoroughly before returning to station.

Qualifications/Education: Current Student enrolled in Accredited Nursing (LPN/RN) Program and/or Current CNA/HHA certification. Available to work flex hours including weekends.
